Assumption’s esteemed and dedicated faculty support and guide graduate students’ educational and career goals by delivering high-quality programs, connecting them to career-building practicum and internship opportunities, and providing flexible learning options.
Several of the College’s graduate programs offer Assumption undergraduates the opportunity to pursue an accelerated master’s degree by taking graduate-level courses in their senior year, including an accelerated business degree, rehabilitation counseling degree, and special education degree.

Addiction Counseling - Breaking the mold of traditional substance abuse treatment programs
The Addiction Counseling certificate at Assumption emphasizes evidence-based interventions and a skills-based model. The program prepares students to “treat the whole person” with a focus on helping students develop the practical skills that can be used to assist individuals who struggle with alcohol or drug abuse problems. The curriculum is an integrated, skills-based sequence that emphasizes the integration of two evidence-based counseling interventions: Motivational Interviewing and Marlatt’s cognitive-behavioral therapy Relapse Prevention intervention. The program will prepare students to be eligible for the CADAC credential.
Applied Behavior Analysis – a Behavior Analyst Certification Board-approved program
The ABA program at Assumption College prepares students for careers as applied behavior analysts who will be well-prepared for both clinical and research-based positions. The ABA curriculum teaches the science of behavior, which is essential for individuals interested in a career involving autism, general and special education, developmental and intellectual disabilities, social work and related fields.
Business/MBA – An accelerated business degree with flexibility
A full-time accelerated business degree, which can be completed in 14 months, is available to recent undergraduates who want immediate career results. Students in this program earn an MBA directly after finishing their undergraduate degree, while still in the academic mindset, without first having to work in one or more jobs that may or may not be the right fit. Assumption also offers a traditional MBA program, designed to provide professional development for those who wish to study on a part-time basis. Both programs offer the flexibility to take most courses either on-campus or online. Graduates are qualified to succeed in the private, nonprofit and public sectors of society and hold diverse leadership roles in a wide range of organization types in many industries. With principled leadership a key component of the program, Assumption’s MBA program curriculum emphasizes ethics and values in business.
Assumption undergraduate accounting majors can apply to begin taking graduate-level courses in their senior year, enabling them to complete a 6 year program (BA/MBA) in only 5 years.
Clinical Counseling Psychology – the only Master’s program in the U.S. incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy throughout the entire curriculum
Psychology majors can continue their studies in the clinical counseling psychology program, recognized by experts in the field as one of the best in the nation for training skilled, effective clinicians, and is the only M.A. program in the U.S. that incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy throughout the entire curriculum. The program is designed to prepare graduates to meet the educational requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts and most other states. Graduates of the program will be ready to succeed in a workforce that needs counselors with evidence-based practice experience.
Health Advocacy - a flexible online program
The online Health Advocacy Program imparts the knowledge, skills, competencies and habits of mind necessary for aspiring and established healthcare professionals to pursue high-impact careers in case management and health advocacy. The Program integrates key elements of management, social sciences, human services, education and health science in such a way to prepare students to become effective professionals. Graduates from the Health Advocacy program will operate from strengths-based, culturally competent frameworks that value, respect and empower clients/patients and enhances healthcare organizations and systems. A Master of Arts in Health Advocacy is offered as well as a Certificate in Patient Advocacy.
Healthcare Management MBA – providing the essential business administration knowledge and skills needed for today’s healthcare managers
With an MBA in Healthcare Management from Assumption students will acquire an in-depth understanding of healthcare systems and the people they serve. Assumption offers an online Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management and a Certificate of Graduate Study for Healthcare Managers. The rigorous programs develop graduates who are well-prepared to lead within the complex 21st century healthcare industry, equipped with essential business knowledge and skills, a critical understanding of the healthcare environment and a capacity for transformative leadership.
Rehabilitation Counseling – a nationally ranked program with flexible on-campus or online classes
The rehabilitation counseling program offered by Assumption College is ranked among the top programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and is fully accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE). It develops leaders in the field using a multi-disciplinary approach enhanced by a strong experiential component. Students are prepared to become nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselors and enter a profession that offers abundant opportunities and personal fulfillment. Graduates of the program are aggressively recruited by agencies both within New England and across the U.S.

Resiliency in the Helping Professions – valuable for career longevity in the rehabilitation and school counseling, education and mental health fields
Course work in the Resiliency program focuses on resiliency cultivation strategies for helping professionals with their clients, students, patients and consumers. The Resiliency in the Helping Professions Certificate of Graduate Study and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study is grounded in evidence-based approaches and focus on emotional regulation, realistic optimism, self-compassion, mindfulness, empathy and self-efficacy.
School Counseling – a program approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Assumption College students have the opportunity to enroll in two graduate courses during their senior year, which may be applied towards the M.A. in School Counseling.
Special Education – a rigorous, comprehensive program modeled on Massachusetts DESE guidelines
Assumption’s special education program bridges the gap between theory and practice by providing students with knowledge and experience that prepares them for the classroom. Students establish a foundation for success through a rigorous, comprehensive program modeled on the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidelines. Graduates of the program enter the workforce with the tools to succeed in an in-demand area and benefit from consistently high employment rates.
A special five-year program enables Assumption undergraduates to complete requirements for both a BA degree and the MA in Special Education, leading to eligibility for the Massachusetts Initial License for Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8 or 5-12).
Transition Specialist Program – develop knowledge about transition-related legal, assessment, collaborative planning, school and community-based skills
The Transition Specialist Program provides training to individuals interested in helping students with disabilities explore and develop career identities as well as develop the skills needed to successfully transition into post-secondary education, training, and employment after completing high school. Both the Certificate of Graduate Study and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study programs focus on the educational, functional and social/emotional needs of students. Individuals interested in acquiring specialized skills to effectively work with transition-aged youth are eligible for the certification programs to prepare them to work in non-school settings.
